SECOND CAPITAL GRANTS AWARDED IN CBCP PHASE 2

(July 2025)  Four Indiana Episcopal faith communities were awarded capital grants totaling $70,038.56 in July 2025 in the second round of the capital grants program of Church Buildings for Collaborative Partnerships Phase 2.  Each church must match its grant award dollar-for-dollar. The top criterion for a grant is how the proposed capital project will improve or modify space to better align a church’s property (buildings and/or grounds) with its mission.

CBCP Capital Grants Round 2

1. St. John’s, Crawfordsville. Improvements to the church’s Whitlock Hall (WH) addition built in 1988.

This Project will enhance congregational education and fellowship and provide welcoming resources that support community organizations who use this venue to further their services to the community. It is intended to make WH into a more welcoming, secure, attractive and versatile space that aligns with St. John's commitment to inclusivity, community service, and congregational wellbeing.

2.  St. Thomas, Franklin. Building Facelift

Grant and matching funds will help fund parking lot resurfacing and repair, stucco repair and painting the outside of the church, and a new heater/cooler unit for office space. The St. Thomas Medical Clinic uses the parking lot and building and is supportive of these improvements.

3. St. Michael’s, Noblesville. Parking Lot repaving, resealing, and striping.

In addition to providing parking for St. Michael’s activities, the lot supports community users of the church property including Girl Scouts, monthly CPR training classes, meetings homeowner associations, and parking for baking casseroles for a local family shelter. St. Michael’s outdoor space is used frequently by volunteer gardeners, neighborhood families visiting the playground, and youth basketball and soccer practice. The property is even used occasionally for hot air balloon launches.

4.   St. Anne’s, Warsaw. Outdoor Lighting and parish hall electrical enhancement.

The lighting will maximize visibility around the church building and parking areas, enabling increased community use of the children's playground, free library, food pantry, and an open field surrounding the building. It is hoped additional groups will be attracted to use the parish hall for programming with a safer environment outside, and electrical outlets for serving food buffets and multimedia presentations.
